INFO:
An Absence Seizure, also known as ‘Petit Mal Seizure’, is a type of seizure that affects both sides of the brain at once. It causes someone to stop and stare blankly into space for a few seconds. ✨ Absence Seizure’s occur as a result of having abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Most have a genetic cause with majority of children growing out of the seizure. ✨ Absence Seizures may be triggered by hyperventilation or flashing lights. Symptoms include: suddenly stopping activity (no talkingu002Fmoving), being still, fluttering eyelids, smacking lips, small hand movement, mouth chewing. ✨ During the seizure, your child will be unresponsive and unaware of what is happening around them. This type of seizure usually does not harm the child unless they are doing an activity when the seizure occurs which then may result in an injury. ✨ Observe the child in case of an injury and record the seizure to show your doctor. Prescribed medication may be given by your doctor to treat or manage the seizure.
